soviet scout car brdm-2 in kit with decals by gaso.line technical characteristicsthis is the successor of the brdm-1. it has been designed in the early sixties. the brdm-2 is four wheel drive vehicle equipped with a 140 hp v-8 engine. the maximum speed reaches 100 km/h. the thickest armour is located at the fore end: 14 mm, otherwise the hull is made of 7 mm thick steel sheets. operationally the brdm-2 weights 7 tons.the brdm-2 is manned by a crew of four. the frying-pan shaped turret mounts two machine guns: a 7.62 mm and a 14.5 mm fed with 2,000 and 500 cartridges respectively. the 14.5 mm bullet pierces 30 mm of armour some 500 metres away. a full nbc protection gear, an ir searchlight and some ir driving lights are also part of the standard features of the brdm-2.this vehicle is still used by many countries armies worldwide: russia, poland, syria, egypt, bulgaria, rumania… combat wise the brdm-2 fought during regional conflicts: viet-nam, the yom kippur war and the iran-iraq war, which are three amongst many others brdm
